As families well know, we each need a team of professionals to help meet our basic healthcare needs. From doctors to dentists to therapist, pharmacists, audiologists, and other specialists, we regularly visit a variety of healthcare experts throughout every stage of our lives. As we reach retirement age, we may see medical conditions and treatment become somewhat more complex, requiring even keener involvement. Keeping track of it all can be confusing. 
At The Saybrook at Haddam, our wellness team helps residents stay on top of their overall healthcare needs by providing and managing individualized care plans. These are carefully developed with input and guidance from families, doctors, pharmacists, and other providers. As a result of doing this successfully for many years, we have developed a dedicated network of specialists who come to our community on a regular basis to provide services such as physical therapy, podiatry, nutrition, dentistry, and more. Additionally, these experts are willing to offer consultations, to help educate residents, families and staff on changes or improvements in their fields, and to serve as an “extension” of our overall wellness team. They are valuable to us and we appreciate all they do for our community.
As our list of health care “partners” has expanded, we thought now would be a great time to bring them together with our whole wellness team to really highlight all we are able to offer. So, for the first time, The Saybrook at Haddam is hosting a Heath Fair on August 19 for residents, families and members of the local community.
During this special event, guests will be able to meet and greet many of our providers, who are happy to explain their services and answer questions. These include a new dentist, a new physical therapy group, Beltone audiologist, a pharmacist, two skilled nursing agencies and several private duty aide agencies. Additionally, the Encompass skilled nursing agency will take free blood pressure readings.
Of course, our own care team of nurses, aides and mental health workers will be on-hand to discuss the daily services we offer to residents and to answer any questions. Our dining services team will also take part by providing some tasty and nutritious snacks and drinks for all to enjoy. And, we welcome visitors to take a tour through our beautiful community which includes a fitness room, several activity rooms, a billiards room, libraries, a movie room, a country kitchen, and of course, several gorgeous courtyards still in their flowering prime.
Everyone at The Saybrook at Haddam is dedicated to making this an exceptional independent and assisted living community, as well as one of the premier memory care communities in the region.
