Saybrook at Haddam Among First to Hire On-Staff Social Worker

April 12, 2014

The Saybrook at Haddam has become one of the very first retirement and assisted living communities in the state to have a social worker on staff. Brooke Conley, licensed clinical social worker, will work with new residents as they adjust to life in the community, and will provide ongoing support to current residents as requested. She also will offer in-service training for staff and will host informational lectures for residents and their families on a wide range of social concerns.

“Personalized care and professional service are two points of pride at our community, so it makes sense to have Brooke on staff to deliver important social services,” said Kathy Ryan, executive director at The Saybrook at Haddam. “We know residents are managing a great deal of change when they come to live here and, while most welcome the new friendships, social activities, and general care-free living, some have a more difficult time. Brooke will be on hand to help those residents and their families through this transition on an immediate and highly personalized basis.”

BConleyPrior to joining The Saybrook at Haddam, Brooke had a private psychotherapy practice in Higganum, Conn. She also was a clinician with United Community and Family Services in Norwich; a clinical supervisor at the Wediko Summer Program in Windsor, New Hampshire; and a social worker at the Center for Family Life in Brooklyn, New York. Brooke earned her master’s of science degree from the Columbia University School of Social Work, and her bachelor’s of arts degree from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
